Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka 3-2

Bangladesh started their FIH Hockey World League Round-1 Dhaka 2014 campaign with a 3-2 victory over Sri Lanka at the Moulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium on Friday. 

Bangladesh took the lead in the 4th minute with forward Hasan Jubair Niloy flicking a fierce hit of Irfan past Srilankan goalie Amila Rathnasiri.

Srilanka equalised in the 13th minute off a penalty corner. Priyalanka Sadaruwan pushed the ball into the post after the penalty corner.

Bangladesh went up ahead again in the 22nd minute after forward Krishno Kumar converted the penalty stroke.

Khorshadur Rahman made it 3-1 in the 27nd minute after Krishno initiated the penalty corner and Sarowar stopped. Khorshadur hit the board with a powerful hit.

Sri Lanka reduced the margin in the 65th minute after Priyalanka Sadaruwan flicked his 2nd goal on a cross of Lalantha De Silva.

 

In the dying  seconds Sri Lankan Lahiru Weerasooriya failed to convert a penalty stroke.

Sri Lanka meet Hong Kong in the second match on Saturday.
