Sri Lanka edge past Thailand 3-2

Dhaka, December 4: Sri Lanka registered their first victory in the Islami Bank Men’s Junior AHF Cup beating Thailand 3-2 at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

Surendra Jeyendran of Sri Lanka put his team ahead in the 9th minute fliclking home a nice cross of Buddika Peris (1-0).
In the 13th minute Pramudya Fernando put his team on a two goal cushion as he had just to push the ball into the post with Buddika Peris paving the way with a nice cross (2-0)
Chakan Boonmee reduced the margin for Thailand in the 23rd minute off a penalty corner (2-1)
Surendra Jeyendran scored the third goal in the 48th minute flicking home from a neat cross skipper Shahid Kuthupdeen (3-1)
Sombat Tong Om scored the second for Thailand in the 59th minute with an angular hit form the left edge of the arc (3-2)
 
Sri Lanka lost to Chinese Taipei 4-3, and 3-2 to Oman in their previous matches. Thailand lost to Oman 7-0, 10-0 against Bangladesh and 4-2 against Chinese Taipei in their previous three matches. Sri Lanka plays their last match against Bangladesh on Saturday.
